New Orleans Singles

It's not my words which will make you cry
But knowing His love deep inside,
When you pause and take time to reflect on your life
All the laughter, the people, the good times and strife.

All the memories of who you think you are
The people you love or when you got your first car,
The outdoor drive-in the only movie in town
Or the one mile circle we all drove around.

It seemed so simple when we were young
But then reality struck and we tamed our tongue,
Hard work and long hours were the order of the day
And it was common that we would often pray.

But now the world is a different place
Wrought with corruption and in need of grace,
I constantly ask why is it this way?
And when will it come a brand new day?

I am sure in my heart that there will come a day
And I don't think it's as long as some would say,
A day when things change dramatic for each
When the book is opened and they no longer preach.

There is no turning back as we all move forward
Some to disgrace and some to reward,
Thank God this life ends in a good transition
Have I done my best with this rendition?

No, I can't say I did my best
Many a times I failed a test,
Many a times I should have done much better
We wear our sins like a heavy fetter.

But I know where I'm going and in whom do I trust
Regardless of sins like money and lust,
Regardless of what people say or think
From the fountains in heaven I will surely drink.
